Volunteer as a reservist firefighter

Volunteer as a reservist firefighter

Our Fire and Rescue Service Department gives volunteers the opportunity to receive adequate training that allows them to serve as a reservist firefighter.

About

The Chief Fire Officer will station volunteers at any of the City’s 30 fire stations, taking into account the need to report to the station within a reasonable amount of time. There are four different categories of reservists to carry out a range of functions.

These categories are:

  • responding to alarms and assisting in the suppression of fire including rescue, entry, ventilating, and salvage work;
  • performing clean-up and overhaul after an emergency;
  • making checks and doing maintenance to ready equipment for service; and
  • responding to medical incidents, amongst a range of various functions.
